After
a long, hard night of senseless murder, the party heads back to Milford
with Felisin and Hawkeye having been dumped into Houra’s cart.
Hawkeye
and Felisin’s muddy and unconscious bodies are deposited at an inn
while Houra and Mautilis go to Carmen. They deliver the two goblin
prisoners and inform Carmen of the party’s findings in Prime Goblin
Land, voicing suspicions of goblin involvement in the appearance of the
NewMire.
Rumors of the party’s heroic defeat of the NewMire have spread.
Somehow the party gets more free horses. Susan is alarmed by the rate of equine turn-over (or at least he should be).
Wilbur
hires the party to escort lumber to Parlfery’s via a raft.  While
escorting the raft up the river the party is ambushed by a group of
bandits led by a winged spellcaster that looks uncannily like a ship.
Mautilus
gets shot, panics, and begins running around in circles. Felisin is
unable to set the magical winged ship-person on fire.  Houra becomes
immobilized by the spellcaster and then is heroically saved by Hawkeye
in a riding maneuver that looks like something out of a romantic comedy.
 They seem close.
Hawkeye
tanks again. Felisin nails sorcerer pretty well and everybody scatters.
Brave Sir Mautilus continues panicking and bolting through the forest.
Felisin
retraces steps to ambush sight, finds no clues and is again rubbish at
tracking, then heads out looking for party members.
Houra
and Hawkeye go back to Milford for refreshing beverages with Grizzler,
and Felisin spends the night in Thurmaster, again failing to get laid
because of the sexism inherent in the system.
(ed.)
Everyone meets up the next day and heads for Parlfray's keep, hoping to
catch the dwarven festival in commemoration of Moradin's mythical
splitting of the Half-Cut Hills. Parlfray is extremely disturbed by the
bandit presence the party reports. In addition, the dwarven priests and
their escorts never made it to the keep as planned and are now 4 days
late. He recruits the party to investigate their disappearance while
traveling through Howler's Moor to the north. Before setting off, Houra
learns the location of the Parlfray family's ancestral keep deep in the
Thornwoods.
While on the road the party is ambushed (ed. If you think that was an ambush...) by two fairly beefy zombie lizard-men. Felisin sets them on fire while the party flees and in the process she is heroically injured. Again.
