Chris (Houra) Session Notes 5/26/14

1372c Year of Wild Magic, Day 21-24, Month of Eleint

Tatertot has abandonded us to go join the couple having sex in the cabin, but was quickly killed in an unfortunate BDSM scenario when she forgot the safeword and choked on a salmon. <-This is now game canon. Fear my power as recorder of things.

Since none of us noticed, or cared, that she was gone, how we know her ultimate fate still remains a mysery, (INTRIGUE) but suffice it to say that we do. After a brief, REALLY brief, moment of silence Woolie the Raven finds us in a lurch....wood. (BAM, get ready, theres a lot of these) He lets us know that our dear friend and supplier of beverages, Gerald, has news for us. We quickly abandon all hope of rescuing Tatertot from suffocation by salmon, and head back to Milford.

Jeneliths dead, (Again, totally hawkeyes fault) which means no more pesky god breathing down oour neck and watching us poop.  She did manage to get a few details about the slow and agonizing way that she died out before she finally passing on to wherever spirits not ever worth summoning go. Apparently a mentally handicapped man who smelt of fish was taking her to the Thornwood.  (Probably should have kept Tatertot around to seduce this guy, she was apparently into that) This is the guy that organized the ambush and almost killed us?! (Note: stop mentioning that to people!)

So we went to find something else to do. Houra wisely sugggested avoiding Towser for a while because the guys annoying and terrible and it'll be at least a week before he gets his stupid spell things so he's useless till then anyway. But also because he's probably not too happy about the whole "got your apprentice kidnapped and murdered" thing. (Again, totally Hawkeyes fault.)

We went too some rich guys place instead. Mauti talked shit to old rich guys kid, then barely managed to defeat him in "practice combat," even with Houra awesomely and heroically helping.
Old dude gave us some useless info and a horse voucher, but his library was awesome. Gotta remember to check out that other castle. Also, gottta remember not to tell the others about that other castle...

Dear Diary 11AM:
Today is the best day of my life. I met a wonderful man. He stood up for me when no one else would. To the left, to the left. My love will always be there siddling off to the left.

Dear Diary 12:30 PM:
Mautilis is a poop head.

Dear Diary 1:00 PM:
Today is the best day of my life. I met a wonderful woman. She stood up for me when no one else would.

Dear Diary 4:00 PM:
My sweetheart and I defeated a horde of spiders together. She is my light and my heart.

Dear Diary 4:05 PM:
MY HEART IS BROKEN! I SHALL NEVER LOVE AGAIN!

Ok but seriously, why do we even bring Cooper on these things? I'm pretty sure he's not actually a ranger, he might actually just be the town drunk. Those spiders bit the shit outta Hawkeye. Mautilis still seems to assume everyone is as badass as he is, which is clearly not the case, given the drunk guys inability to even maintain an erect...person.

We're going back to coopers.

Fuck the outside.

(ed. Jelen was found by Oleanne, but too far gone to be healed. Oleanne set off scouting. Party met Count Parlfray his son Lyntern. Lyntern was successfully dissuaded from joining the party by Mautilis during some practice sparring (those crits!). After leaving Parlfray's keep, the party attempted another foray into the Thornwood with Kuiper's assistance only to be met by stiff eight-legged resistance.

With Hawkeye no stronger than a kitten, the party retreated to Milford to let him sleep it off while they gathered information. Except Felisin, who drank a lot and seduced a farmer's daughter. Fortunately, Hawkeye and Houra overheard a young boy telling his friends a tale about "blue skinned fiends" on the edge of New Mire and the Patchwork Hills.)

Nick (Hawkeye) Session Notes 5/11/14 - Drunk and Angry Special Edition

1372c Year of Wild Magic, Day 17-20, Month of Eleint (Sept)

(ed.  Chrisy was absent this session.  Greg left the campaign last week and Olivia stepped in in the role of Tetow/Tatertot the forest gnome ranger. That didn't work out very well and she will be rejoining as a unique PC sometime in the future.  Nick was also drinking heavily during his note taking so as to better roleplay the alcoholic Hawkeye.  That didn't work out very well either.  I've corrected typos for readability, but left his notes intact otherwise.)

We heard the shriek-n-mire (ed. Shrieken Mire) from The Old Grizzler. Use to be lizard-men down there. Haven’t seen them for a while, ghost of a guy in there, queen of the mire as well. No one ever goes there for good reason.  Tauzer’s is willing to help us out in the future, with enchanting, hopefully.

After another painful morning, we talked to Wilbur, in accordance to the job he has hired us for. He told us we are just extra man power, as he already has a regular set of people to protect his wares. Mautilis snuck off to talk to Darius Carman to let him know we wouldn’t be of use for a while. To no surprise to anyone, Felisin seems to be missing or sleeping in. Either are likely better than having her with this job, she’d likely set the raft on fire because it’s too sunny. After receiving our money, we head off to the docks and begin our journey.

The raft itself was piled high enough that even Tatertot could not fit on it, so we were forced to walk alongside the river, trusting Susan with actually pulling the raft. She seemed strained but none the worse for wear.

To make the journey go faster, the guards were kind enough to talk to us. As usual, it was up to me to gather information about the goings on. They told us about other kidnappings, all magic users from the surrounding areas. Sadly, none have been located, regardless of the bounty or reward for their rescue. A male priest was captured on the outskirts on a village, outside of Nash-till, a mining town. It’s about a day trek south.  There was also a woods-witch that was kidnapped.

Mautilis kept bugging everyone about the Smiths, like we have some duty to remind them their place burnt down. Buggers can probably afford another…

Otherwise, it was a blotchy journey of the usual to Thurmaster. With exclusion to Houra’s ability to set himself ablaze, lending credit to the damn demon theory. I should remind myself to take blood samples next chance I get.

Eventually, I find ourselves at Tauzer’s hovely-tower. He has no news except he is wasting time getting scrying compenents ALL THE WAY FROM BLOODY AMN. It’ll take over a week till he finishes. Houra points out his inadicqa…lacking wizarding skills and he gets defensive, telling us how he left the guild and his master Aaron must not know about his doings. Luckily, I manage to get us some enchantments when we have money…someday…

Luckily, everyone remembered where the inn is, so I stumbled my way along to find a drink. After a refreshing rest, we set out to go back to Melbourne and search for Jenelithe ourselves, as no one else is apparently trying very hard. On the way, we stopped off at Were-bear (ed. Krynen's) Farm and someone must have informed the father of his child’s condition, as he was very upset and insisted on going with us. I tried to persuade him to stay, as it is not safe. It wasn’t successful and the father joined us.

We go to Cooper’s farm, the father rushed as we get there and Maitilus informs farmhands of the condition for some reason. Cooper says he will keep looking into Jenelith’s disappearance but I doubt he actually is.

We got to Melbourne and Houra tried to sell us for were-bear fighting training. Since there hasn’t been any were-bear issues, it doesn’t go well but big surprise.

I tried to teach Susan to learn to come. You heard me.

After another day or boringness, we head off to Harlaton in search of knowledge and a more safe route to the woods.  None of our journeys have provided much besides a restful drunken stupor. Nothing seems to happen here but we did find a bar, the most important part of town. At noon, we look at the job boards. A hostess greats us as we enter the Pitcher and Pitchfork, what a long name. Houra talks to her but I walk to the bar before I carry on much more about what he talks about

We continued onward looking for for the Lyrchwood. Susan is going slow. We cross our path towards the mire to where we were originally attacked by fake farmers and dastardly liars.

Matlilus does nothing but Houra uses his magical bird to look through the forest as we walk through it. In a two hour lap, nothing appears to be an issue…

We saw lots of wood cutters but they are soooo useless. A detailed search by the magical bird told us practically nothing

Nothing happened during the woods but of god do I need more liqor. Spirits is good and all but I need a change in a while.

We searched the woods for a while but we found no tracks or signs of anyone that isn’t normally here.

(ed. session was cut short when I got cranky at overall group toxicity level and picked up my toys a la Cartman)

You left out how Olivia's gnome could talk to only burrowing creatures, so we said we could just make the animal bury then we could talk to it, or we could get a mule or rather a burrow...
I don't actually recall that
We need someone to be reverse drunk so that by the time you're drunk they'll be sober and then...yeah.
But they show up plastered
When did this take place?
We were working on talking to all the animals and wandering around.
Ok, yeah, that explains that
It was amusing to get drunk and do notes but never again

Chrisy (Felisin) Session Notes 5/5/14

1372c Year of Wild Magic, Day 16-17, Month of Eleint (Sept)

We are currently in a glade in Thornwood to net Maxim, the werebear kid.

Hawkeye nets the fuck out of the werebear, and Cooper (ed. Kuiper) manages to quiet Maxim.

It is revealed that Tatertot is rubbish at climbing trees.

Cooper and Houdra are becoming best friends because Houdra is being so nice to Maxim.

Mautilis is paranoid. It’s making Felisin paranoid. Sparky is annoyed.

After blathering about demons for ages, Mautilis gets a pretty fire makeover.

While Mautilis is failing miserably to stop being on fire, Maxim becomes outraged for no apparent reason.

Houdra begins exhibiting some alarmingly cool powers, poofing in and out of existence and summoning birds.

Somehow Maxim manages to avoid Felisin’s tiny mote of death-dealing flame, so Houdra does the smart thing and sticks him in the leg a bit.

In the fray Tatertot gets clobbered.

Felisin is told that the unconscious Tatertot looks flammable and really, she does.  But she wakes up.

Susan finds berries, Hawkeye seems frustrated by this.

Official Watch Cycle:
1) Mautilis
2) Felisin
3) Houdra
4) Hawkeye

The party goes with Cooper to Maxim's house despite Cooper’s obvious dislike of us and extreme ingratitude of our heroic feats in rescuing (and not killing) Maxim.  (ed. Tatertot stays with Kuiper while recovering)

We are told about The Old Grizzler, a smart guy who might be able to translate for the party's orc prisoner, is in Milford. We follow the river to Milford.  (ed. Party encounters the auctioning off of the Denfast farmstead in town, it is sad)

Houdra heads off to lock up the orc that never did get fed. (ed. Hawkeye gave em some rations at one point)

Felisin puts on a stunning fire-dance performance in front of complete morons and is assaulted by parasitical humanoids.

Felisin, Mautilis, and Hawkeye go to the Baron of Mutton tavern to find TOG (ed. The Old Grizzler) and babes.

There is a distinct lack of babes.

Mautilis takes over public relations and attempts to start a riot over possible orc invasion, then terrifies Andrin (ed. Andren) by evading questions about his lover.

Houdra succeeds in locking up the orc by terrorizing the fuck out of the shopkeeper (ed. Rastifer) and knocking the orc out sucker-punch style in a display of sheer evil badassdom, then takes our looted gear to be sold.

Felisin talks to Wilbur, a bar hottie, who wants help guarding a shipment of “sundry wares” (whatever the hell that means) (ed. pots and textiles mostly) to Thurmaster for 25g pieces per party member and is remarkably attractive and alluring. Men.

Mautilis pimps out his “adventuring” skills to Maurius (ed. Darius Carman) and “Shelly”(ed. Shelli) at the village mansion, and confuses them badly. Despite this, the party is offered a quest for 1000g to make the mire that is destroying Milford’s farming community go away.

Hawkeye has made TOG his new drinking buddy and man, that ugly little guy talks a lot.

Hawkeye learns that some priests have blighted the land, and the crops are dying because of a 2 year old mire. (ed. TOG never implied they were linked, I don't think it came up actually)
Hawkeye shows TOG the shield with the skull and arrows. (it is… ?)(ed. TOG thought it was very red)

Party is offered 50g a piece to go into the woods (ed. mire) and investigate for 2 weeks.

During the night, Smith Cottage inexplicably catches fire. For no reason. (ed. Houdra and Felisin sleep through it, Hawkeye and Mautilis assist in the bucket brigade and extinguish the fire)

Dustin (Mautilis) Session Notes 4/27/1

Dustin (Mautilis) Session Notes 4/27/1
1372c Year of Wild Magic, Day 15, Month of Eleint (September)

(ed. Retcon - to ease Greg, the Forest Gnome, Tehtow's entry into the game we shortcut through the RP of the PC's meeting with Wooley the not-as-dumb-as-normal raven, ally of Kuiper.  He is now spreading word through the shire about Jelenneth's abduction and the existence of bandits in the area to the other wardens/allies of the rangers)

Continuing their quest to rescue Jelenneth at the behest of the wizard Towser, Kuiper and Oleanne lead Mautilis, Hawkeye, Felisin, and Houra to the raven in the Thornwood, which has communicated with another ranger, Shiraz, in Eelhold, a dam on the northern part of town (?).  (ed. yep)

We also meet a female gnome, Tehtow, a fellow guardian of Heranshire, who serves as the forward emissary to the gnomes in the area. They have no information as to Jelenneth's whereabouts, but Kuiper is very concerned with the lycanthropic son of a local farmer that has very recently decided to go on a rampage of sorts. Kuiper had been aware of the problem of the son, Maxim, becoming a werebear, and in all the time he's had to prepare for this inevitable rampage, Kuiper surmises that two 10 pound nets and calm words will subdue the beast, a genius plan to which our party eagerly agrees – the caveat: we are under oath to do no harm to Maxim in the process of subduing him. There is no reward for this side mission, but we feel obligated to assist.

Tehtow and Oleanne (who was irritated at how loud we were as we traveled) are able to track the werebear to the head of Hogbrook, a tributary to the Churnett river that flows from the Thornwood. Hogbrook is so named because of the farmers that once upon a time led their pigs to feed on the acorns at the risk of encountering the indigenous orcs, among other demihumans. The tracks show that the werebear has most likely drank from the stream and traveled south into the Thornwood. The party decides to camp overnight, keeping watch. Felisin uses what appears to be a cookie sprinkle named Sparky to help. We forget we have a raven with us that could prevent an ambush, were that to occur.  (ed. Wooley wasn't with you, still spreading word to the edges of the shire) Unlikely. Mautilis removes his armor and sleeps in a tree.

To everyone's surprise, we are attacked in the night by a large group of bloodthirsty orcs. Despite the initial scramble, our heroes manage to overtake the enemies. The orc carrying an unmarked metal shield, who appears to be the leader, sees this and begins to call out to his troops as if to halt the battle. Mautilis valiantly, and nakedly, sacrifices three hit points of his leg to take out the leader, who is immediately stabilized by Hawkeye and Houra with the intention of holding him for questioning. Another orc that had appeared later in the battle was also in stable condition, yet we decide to leave him behind. Kuiper, upset that death was necessary, suggests we search the bodies. We notice the large wooden shields they carry have a symbol of a skull with two arrows through each of its eyes, unknown in these parts. Houra and Mautilis take the silver swords – they may prove useful against lycanthropes. Mautilis eyes the carneliian-encrusted gold broach that Hawkeye removes from the orc leader.

It begins to rain that night and continues on into the morning; Oleanne is upset that these orcs were able to travel through the Thornwood unnoticed, what with all these guardians about, and sets off to investigate further. She asks us to continue on with Kuiper to subdue Maxim the werebear, to which we agree. There is some confusion as to how best to transport our new prisoner as well as what to do with the spoils of the battle.

How will our intrepid heroes find the girl that they had previously vowed to protect?
From whence do these orcs hail and are they part of a bigger plan?
When will Oleanne learn Common and stop being so mysterious?
Whatever became of the prisoner in Milford? (ed. sent to Baldur's Gate for trial last you saw)
Where is the raven? (ed. doing bird stuff)
But really, *who* is carrying these nets? (ed. Susan)
Is Towser really paying us enough, because I did not sign up for this stirge/bandit/orc/werebear stuff? How does the pony feel about all this? (ed. consistently complacent)
Is the pony the actual mastermind behind the plot to foil our heroes' noble quest for very little gold?

Find out next time in...
“Mautilis finds a better way to not get ambushed in the night particularly if there's a werebear roaming about in said night.”

(escort should be stricken through)

You skipped the orc's face being lit on fire, while wearing a helmet.
That was pretty wonderful

I feel like the recap overstated the helpfullness of having a naked guy mauling the guy we wanted to keep alive.

Chris (Houdra) Session 1 Notes 4/20/14 - 1372c Year of Wild Magic, Month of Eleint (September)

Chris (Houdra) Session Notes 4/20/14 - 1372c Year of Wild Magic, Month of Eleint (September)

In Beregost, at the Burning Wizard, Gordenn (Wizard) hired us on behalf of Towser (Wizard) to escort his (Towsers) apprentice, Genelith (Wizard) to Thurmaster along with a crate of spell components. DON'T OPEN THE SPELL COMPONENTS (ed. - Gordrenn, Jelenneth)

Felisin hit on a 14 year old little girl.
Hawkeye drank a lot.
Mautilis just got out of prison. But we don’t know that. But he wants us to know that. But he didn’t say that. But we probably know that.
We received a signed contract to be paid out upon delivery of the crate and Genelith. (Of course Hawkeye took it)
http://imgur.com/KRgHhDI

We decided to take the long way around the "Don't remember name of forest (ed. Wood of Sharp Teeth)" and stick to the road. We were ambushed by Stirges. (Mautilis still has a dick in his neck.) Genelith is from a small town called Milford, which is on the way to Thurmaster, so we decided to head there to rest and heal up. Her boyfriends (Andren) dad (Barthelew) runs the Inn and we plan on staying there. Just before we got there, however, we were accosted by vagabonds and knocked unconscious. (Hawkeyes fault entirely)

Upon awakening, after not being dead, we interrogated a pony, which Mautilis subsequently fell in love with.  It informed us that a “Wolf lady” and some wolves ate the bandits and left us alive. We found one of the bandits still alive, and tied him up and put him on Susan. (Who wishes that you would respect his life choices.)

We then headed to Milford. (Mautilis still never removed that dick from his neck.)
http://imgur.com/6hgLHmE

When we got to Milford, we meet Garyld, an old lame Ranger that locks up the bandit in the “jail” and sends us to meet Barthelew and Adren. They then send us to Thurmaster to get Towser, to deliver the crate and get his help finding Genelith.

We get to Thurmaster, and find Towser. Everyone makes him mad with how bad they are at protecting people. I talk him out of more money to keep going. Houdra heroically goes and fetch a Ranger named Cooper to assist in locating Genelith, while everyone else drinks too much and sleeps in.
http://imgur.com/KfDmFMQ

We head back towards Milford with Cooper, where we run into Oleanne (Wolf Lady) who informs Cooper that there is a young farm boy that has turned into a werebear and is rampaging throughout the forest. Clearly, we want to kill it.  (ed. - Kuiper)

That is all.
Also, I have maps.
Now that's all.

Nick - You forgot about how much I drank
Chris - " Hawkeye drank a lot. "
Chrisy - And you forgot to add that I did indeed get laid and NOT WITH A 14 YEAR OLD.
Also Milfordians are ugly.

World Flesh

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ag/20060607a

This is Faerun, you live here.  I've highlighted the area you guys are going to be starting in.

It is the Year of Wild Magic - 1372, you hope the world calms down a bit after all the recent turmoil.  The empire of Shadow has recently reemerged to your northeast and reestablished its borders after being lost in the Plane of Shadow for hundreds of years.  You've also heard tell of a new, progressive kingdom of orcs and other demihumans being founded in the north, the first of its kind.

The most significant cities nearby are Baldur's Gate to the west, and Waterdeep to the north-west.  Amn, to your south, is in the second year of a war with the Sothillisian empire to their east (not marked - near Brost).

Populations are primarily human, with some halflings, gnomes, and dwarves mixed in.  Elves are uncommon, but not necessarily unwelcome in most lands nearby

Characters:

Nick "Hawkeye" - Healer
"Retired" after years of fighting in the armies of Amn to found a brewery in Beregost.  Business was good until the place burned down while you slept off a binge, earning you the hatred of most of the town.  After months of drinking yourself stupid and trying half-heartedly to raise some cash you're nearly broke.  You know the only way you're going get enough booze to get through the day is by selling your skills as a caravan guard and general mercenary.

You dig out your old army gear and throw the third blast of healing energy into your writhing gut today.  The ever-present pain dulls a bit as you take a healthy swig from your flask and you wonder why you still care at all.  Whatever the reason, you pay your final bill at the Feldposte Inn and start the trudge to the Burning Wizard tavern across town.

Chrisy "Felisin" - Wilder
Life has been easier after leaving the streets of Baldur's Gate.  All those memories seem less horrible now and you're enjoying the freedom of the road.  Your whims have led you to the thriving town of Beregost along the Sword Coast.  You take a room at the Red Sheaf Inn and, after asking around for work a bit, are pointed to the Burning Wizard tavern.  You only hope you can keep your secrets and...urges...to yourself this time.

Chris "Houra Ydres" - Binder
You've "collected" many clues to your past and future on your way down the Trade Road from Westgate during the last few months.  Now within sight of your goal in Beregost you're beginning to wonder when you'll receive new instructions...

Dustin "Mautilis" - Warblade
After being sprung from the prisons of Athkatla in 1371 by your childhood friend Caronys you left the country of Amn.  You have vowed to not return until you have the power and wealth to destroy the Denobir trading house that cast you aside and destroyed your life.  After buying some new gear with the scant funds left to you by Caronys before his disappearance, you prepare yourself for your new, temporary, future as a mercenary.

You have each chosen to answer the magical "help wanted" sign of a wizard named Gordrenn who is supposed to meet you at the Burning Wizard tavern today at noon.

We'll pick up there tomorrow.
